How do I make an appointment?
All services are by appointment only. You can call us at 815-893-0573 or email at thedoggiepaddleil@gmail.com
What if my dog doesn't like swimming?
We do not offer refunds for lessons or packages. Most dogs take 3-10 visits, potentially more, to become familiar or enjoy swimming. It takes time for most dogs to adjust and to feel comfortable with this new skill. One session does not often determine whether or not a dog will swim and we encourage patience for their efforts.
Can I swim with my dog?
No. Both The State of Illinois and the Health Department do NOT allow people to swim in pools for dogs. Only the business owner and/or employees may be in the pool with your dog(s). We also do not allow non-employees on the ramp for the pool. This is a safety precaution for you, your dog and the staff and applies to all appointment types.
My dog has always swam in a lake, do we have to do an assisted swim the first time?
Yes! It is important to understand that indoor swimming in a pool is not the same as swimming in a lake or river. Not all animals immediately take to swimming indoors.
Do I need to bring a towel?
Yes please! In order to keep things fluid and orderly, we allot 10 minutes of towel drying time after your session.
What if my dog is people- or dog-aggressive?
We will do the best we can to work with your dog depending on the severity of the aggression. No other dogs will be in the pool or on the deck with your dog as these are private sessions.
Can my dog swim when in heat?
No. It is not sanitary and there is always a risk of pyometra when swimming during this time.
Important Reminders:
Please do NOT push your dog down the ramp, or into the pool from the deck or throw them in.
These things can result in injury to your dog and/or staff.
Please do your best to have your dog clean, brushed and nails trimmed.
This helps keep the pool equipment in good working order and helps it to last longer. Dog hair, dirt, oil and dander are very hard on pool equipment.
Please arrive 5-10 min before your appointment time to potty your dog and check in with a staff member.
Please Note:
Do not enter the building with your dog(s) before you know it is cleared by the previous swimmer(s) or it is approved by a staff member. All dogs MUST remain on leash while on property. You must be in control of your dog at all times.
We do NOT do group swims with unfamiliar dogs.
We can only do assisted swims with a single dog at a time. The same goes for dock diving.
You must let us know when booking your session if you will be dock-diving.
If you do not give us 24-hour notice for cancellation, you will be charged for the full amount of the session.
Be prepared to get wet and have fun!
